PMT Signal Acquisition and Characterization

A 192-channel test platform linking waveform acquisition, calibration, and batch PMT evaluation.

A Foundation for Detector R&D

Reliable PMT characterization provides the foundation for my work on large-signal response, waveform correction, and array reconstruction. At PandaX, I led development and maintenance of a universal signal acquisition system integrating high-voltage supply, signal readout and separation, digitization, and storage.

Platform and Measurements

  • 192 acquisition channels, with 500 MS/s waveform digitization and over 1,000 MB/s readout bandwidth.
  • More than 500 days of stable operation supporting batch testing, calibration, and abnormal-waveform analysis.
  • More than 160 R11410 and 500 R12699 PMTs characterized, including ambient- and low-temperature measurements.
  • Waveform-processing workflows and a performance database for dark-count, gain, and afterpulse evaluation.

Connected Research

The measurements support large-signal response and waveform correction, rigid-flex base evaluation, and PMT-array reconstruction.
